Cursillo Info for Happeners

I’ve seen an amazing transformation in my child!

Yes, your child may look and sound different as he/she continues to process and live out the Christian love and community they have found here at Happening.

I wonder if that could happen to me?

“YES!”

Happening originated in Dallas, Texas in the mid-1970s when some high school-aged teens saw the change that CURSILLO created in their parents’ lives and wanted to have the same transformative experience. Because their children were not old enough to attend a Cursillo weekend, the parents decided to create a program for their teens based on the Cursillo model, but in a format relevant to high school students, and Happening was born.

What is Cursillo?

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning “short course,” or in this case “A Short Course in Christian Living.” Cursillo is an opportunity for adults to gain a deeper understanding of the teachings of Jesus and how we can serve him. Participants will have a weekend similar to their high schoolers experience of Happening – a series of talks and responses, great Christian community, and some wonderful surprises.

How can I receive more information?

First, begin by seeking out your parish contact for Cursillo. If you are not sure who that is, please contact your priest. Or you may contact the Cursillo lay director, Guy Bond, at gbond@floridadirtlawyer.com.
